PATH’s Closing Cypher is an interactive Hip Hop showcase that features music, dance, art and social commentary about life in the early 90’s, and it closes out their summer session. The production is co-written and performed by the PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy youth and staff, with guidance from Teo Castellanos. This year included performances by Hakim Green (Channel Live), and Mecca aka Grimo.
PATH is a Miami-based 501(c )3 organization that uses Hip Hop culture to advance scholarship (academic achievement), community involvement, leadership and entrepreneurship in underserved communities. This series features most of the students of the 2016 summer session. These kids killed it at the closing cypher, and I hope these photos do their individual character and talents justice. Big ups to all PATH staff, volunteers and students past, present and future. Can’t wait to see what next year’s anniversary jam is gonna look like. Visit www.pathtohiphop.org for more info.
